The Moon Underwater

The Moon Underwater, a St. Petersburg colonial style restaurant, contacted Revital with a common problem. “We have a dated website, and it’s not helping our brand.”

Faster than you could say, ‘Welsh Watering Hole’ we understood the situation.

Locally, the restaurant has an original concept, including: menu items, décor, and tasty beers on tap. But the past design lacked truth. There was no feeling or sense of individuality. It didn’t communicate the personality of Moon Underwater or the end result of a visit—leaving customers full and elated with their experience. Bad for branding, worse for new prospects searching online for a place to eat in St Petersburg, Fl.

Every website needs a visual foundation. Too many designers just slap something together or recycle an old template. It takes thought, marketing know how, and experience to create something that sells. Design’s an integral part of the process.

We researched The Moon Underwater using our unconventional methods. Like actually dining in the restaurant, sitting at the bar, and stopping by unannounced during various times of the day. We also performed the typical competitive analysis, brand landscape, customer profile, and other forms of marketing research, but when a brand’s personality is as strong as this place…it’s all right there. You just have to know where to look. Through research, we discovered a focal point that would resonate on the screen. The bar. With lots of wood, brass, and, of course taps, we were able to form the visual foundation.

After we established the look and feel of the site, we determined how management would communicate with customers. By adding social media links, an event calendar and an email marketing data capture, customers now have multiple channels of interaction. In the past, The Moon Underwater did a great job of keeping customers informed, we just made it a little easier.

Staff was also concerned with updating content and site information on the fly. Not a problem with our content management system. The Moon’s staff can change content and pictures at any time with our easy to use website manager. After about an hour of training, they became instant experts. New menu items, pictures, and events, can be changed as fast as they can type and press save.

“It’s everything we could want in a website.”

By making a small investment in their branding, The Moon Underwater is now confident that their online presence communicates what they do and where they do it. If you’re interested in web design, advertising, or any marketing assistance, contact Revital Agency today. We can help.
